In this Bellevue backyard makeover, our clients faced a common Northwest challenge—constant rain and muddy grass that made their yard difficult to enjoy. We solved that by replacing the soggy lawn with a low-maintenance putting green, perfect for their son who’s passionate about golf. To complement the space, we added a small water feature, a cozy firepit, and a compact outdoor kitchen to maximize both beauty and usability in a limited footprint.
One of the standout features is the custom-built structure over the outdoor kitchen, designed to protect against the elements while navigating tight city permitting rules. Since regulations prevented us from attaching the structure directly to the house, we engineered a design that looks fully integrated but remains free-standing - providing the coverage they needed without compromising compliance. This project is a great example of how Alderwood Landscaping can turn a small, rain-soaked yard into a year-round outdoor escape.
